Ford Motor Company Issues Windshield Safety Recalls

In late February of this year, the Ford Motor Company released a safety recall for select 2020-2021 Ford F-Series vehicles because of how the windshields are bonded to the vehicle.

According to the Ford Motor Company statement here, “Affected vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards because the front windshields are inadequately bonded to the vehicle body structure. In the event of a crash, the windshield may not adequately stay in place, which may increase the risk of occupant injury.

This action affects 79,017 vehicles in the U.S. and federal territories, 6,986 in Canada, and 1,347 in Mexico, including:

  • 2021 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Truck Plant from Oct. 27, 2020, to Feb. 3, 2021
  • 2020-21 Ford Super Duty vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant from Oct. 13, 2020, to Jan. 23, 2021

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition. Owner notifications will begin the week of April 6. Dealers will remove and reinstall the windshield using standard service procedures. The Ford reference number for this recall is 21C06.”

Glass Blaster Provides Solution for Ford Dealers

Induction heat technology can offer a precise, safe and reliable way to remove the glass and cut down on time. The Glass Blaster utilizes induction heat to release urethane in hard-to-reach areas such as curves or deep pockets of windshields, where other glass tools can’t go.

The attachment contains contoured beveled edges which place the magnetic field closer to the workload and high mount strain relief prevents the cord from interfering with adjacent panels.

There’s no need for wires, knives, or other glass cutting tools. The Glass Blaster will not damage the encapsulant and the thermal tape protects the glass from scratches.

Save Time, Remove Windshields in Minutes – Intact

You can remove a windshield in less than 15 minutes, quarter glass in less than 3! You can also remove spray-in bedliners in just a few hours. And did we mention? This can all be done from outside the vehicle. Another great benefit of the Glass Blaster is that it leaves the window structures intact – allowing the removed glass to be reused instead of disposed of. glass blaster solution to ford's recall over improperly bonded windshields
