Flywheel Bolt Removal: Mini-Ductor® Application
Using the Mini-Ductor® Venom™ Induction Heater & Flameless Torch
Using the Mini-Ductor® Venom™ Induction Heater & Flameless Torch
How many times have you struggled to remove flywheel bolts, which are often stuck so tight that your impact gun didn’t budge them? Perhaps you’ve applied some heat using a torch, then applied loads of penetrating fluid and given them some good whacks with a hammer, or tried to use a nut extraction tool?
In extreme cases, flywheel bolts cannot be removed using conventional methods and you may have to resort to grinding or drilling the head off the bolt so the flywheel can come off, allowing you to remove the threaded shafts by hand. Or in the worst case, you can weld on a socket to the bolt and use a pry bar with long extension attached.
All this takes considerable time, effort and a few expletives! Not only is this frustrating, but time is money and there are no doubt lots of other jobs you could be getting on with.
The good news is there’s a solution.
The Mini-Ductor Venom handheld induction heating tool uses flameless Invisible Heat® to release ferrous and some non-ferrous metals from corrosion and thread lock compounds without the danger of an open flame and works up to 90% faster than traditional flame heating. It can turn ¾” nut red hot in less than 15 seconds.
Venom is the evolution of the Mini-Ductor Series which has been the leading handheld induction heater on the market for over a decade. Venom’s features allow users to repair vehicle and equipment faster, more safely, more profitably and salvage parts.
Mechanics do not need to run the risk of using a torch which could damage the tire, the nut or the bolt itself as the Mini-Ductor Venom coils are thin enough to wrap round the bolt and heat it in seconds for easy removal. This ensures the heat is transferred efficiently to the part only and ensures there’s no collateral damage to the surrounding area.
Step 1: Select the correct coil
Step 2: Secure the Coil with Twist Lock™
Step 3: Place the coil around the flywheel bolt and heat (be careful not to overheat or turn red hot)
Step 4: Remove the flywheel bolt with an impact wrench
Step 5: Dispose of excessively heated hardware
