auto industry magazine list's mini-ductor venom as unusual tool worth buying

As the most recent issue of TechShop Magazine reminds its auto technician and shop owner readers, there are a lot of tools out there, and figuring out which ones are worth the investment can be a tough call.

That’s why the magazine put together a list of “unusual tools” that are worth owning for those in the automotive industry.

We were excited, but not surprised, to see our Mini-Ductor® Venom® included in the magazine’s description of induction heating as a “quicker, safer and more efficient” way to apply heat than the acetylene torch. While conceding that the use of induction heating tools isn’t really that unusual anymore, writer Eric Garbe says “what’s important is that they work, and they work really well.”

“What we’re bringing to the table today is a list of tools that can and will save you a lot of time. Sometimes the most useful things get overlooked, in many cases, because we don’t know they exist. So, here’s to the unusual and hoping that some of these keep you some day from saying, “I wish I’d bought this 30 years ago.” – Eric Garbe, TechShop

TechShop is a resource for the automotive industry that features the latest and best equipment, tools and supplies so technicians and shop owners can stay current with the latest technology and techniques.

A Safer, Versatile Alternative to the Torch

According to the article, ”Not only do [induction heating tools] provide a safer heat with no flame, but there are many different coils and accessories available to allow for multiple uses.”

Our induction heating tools work by generating a flameless heat through high-frequency magnetic fields that travel through the unit to the coil to heat only the ferrous metal within the coil. When the magnetic field encounters the metal, it produces a circulating current. The current combines with resistance in the metal to generate heat.

Saving Time, Money and Providing Safer Options

Induction heat is not only a faster and safer way to remove rusted or corroded parts, but also greatly reduces the risk of damage to the surrounding work areas, including the risk of igniting flammable materials. Induction heating allows the removal of nuts, bolts, O2 sensors, exhausts, struts, graphics, decals and more in just seconds.
